Established in 2021 on the auspicious occasion of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi (10 September), the Group was envisioned as a bridge between readers, writers, and publishers across the globe. What began as a passionate initiative has now evolved into a vibrant consortium of businesses working across several verticals within the literary and publishing ecosystem.
The Group stands on the foundational belief that books are not just commodities but vessels of knowledge, imagination, and cultural dialogue. Guided by this philosophy, The Pustakwala Group has steadily expanded its footprint while preserving its core value of nurturing meaningful literary connections. Today, the Group operates through four sister segments, each catering to a distinct yet interconnected aspect of the book industry.
The Pustakwala Bookstore is the flagship arm of the Group, dedicated to the trade and distribution of books. With an expansive catalogue covering five major languages and a distribution network reaching seven continents, the bookstore has rapidly established itself as a trusted name among readers and publishers alike. It curates a diverse selection of titles ranging from contemporary fiction to timeless classics, academic works to independent voices, ensuring that every reader finds something that resonates with their interests. The Bookstore also champions regional and lesser-known authors, creating a truly global platform rooted in cultural diversity.
The Pustakwala Chronicles is the editorial and media journalism arm of the Group — a distinguished digital publication dedicated to verified news, reflective long-form articles, interviews, special features, and literary storytelling. It functions as the intellectual voice of the organization, connecting readers not only to books but also to contemporary thought, culture, and informed public discourse.

Leatherback Publishers is the publishing division of The Pustakwala Group, envisioned as a boutique publishing house that blends creative innovation with editorial excellence. Founded with the mission to discover and develop new literary voices, Leatherback focuses on quality over quantity—handpicking manuscripts that carry intellectual depth, cultural significance, and artistic merit. It publishes in multiple languages, with a strong emphasis on Marathi and other Indian languages while also exploring English-language titles with international appeal.
